Earth Week

Let's celebrate Earth week. Do you have organic ideas? Do you have eco-friendly ones? Try checking out Ann Budd's new book, Knitting Green. She has wonderful ideas about using old garments, tearing them in strips and knitting or crocheting a scarf or bag from them. It's called re-purposing! Knitting Daily's email talked about this today.

Didn't know you were part of an Earth movement? Well, knitting or crocheting using wools is one of the oldest recycling movements alive. Sheep need to be shorn of their locks for health purposes and spinning the fibers into yarn is recycling the wool for another use! Aren't we forward-thinking? Then there are plant fibers or plant by-products that are made into fiber so that we can knit with them such as, cotton, bamboo, soy, sugarcane, rayon from banana trees, milk.... get the idea? So keep stitchin'. It's good for you, the economy, and the environment.

Just a friendly reminder: April in double stamp month for all Martingale books. Now's the time to buy that book you've been wanting. You'll get double stamps on your super saver card. Once the card is filled up, Martingale will send another fav book.
