Don't often do this but.....
Looking at last year's Christmas cards. Yes, Bob & I are those people. Came across one from my Aunt Fran who passed away this summer. She was the lst of her generation. Tearful moments...but then I remembered some of those times when we all moved here to PA.
Didn't have a car, walked everywhere! We walked 2 miles to church and back every Sunday, twice. I remember, Aunt Fran dragging a Christmas tree up 3rd St in Lemoyne to our house by herself because mom had the flu. Aunt Fran didn't drive, so when we got a car, Mom did the driving and Fran did the directing! They were a pair - a formidable pair.
Aunt Fran and Mom were two very strong women who raised their children, worked, kept a good home and scraped by. Hope this generation and the generations that follow us can be as strong and courageous as those two. They were 2 of the 6 sisters, Simone, Alberta. Antoinette, Francoise, Therese and Gloria, all who were strong role models for all of us cousins. And I won't leave out the 3 Uncles, Clement, Anatol and Albert. They were pretty awesome too, especially Clement who was the eldest. They are all together again this Christmas, smiling down on us...and in typical Courchene fashion, telling us all how to do right!
I'm so glad that I had some special time with this special Aunt. We were much alike and I miss her.
