Success

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again! Truer words have never been spoken. After spending the entire day and several yarns trying to make gauge, I almost quit the pattern. Slept on it. Looked at yet another yarn and thought "why not (knot)?" So I started another gauge swatch. This time the winds were blowing in the right direction! Eureka!!!! I got gauge. So now we begin the pattern. Is it worth it? You betcha especially if we want garments to fit properly. That is the beginning. So before beginning a project, please take the time to swatch.

Swatching can do many things for you. It lets you know if you need to change needles or hook to make gauge. It helps to promote fit. It lets you know if the yarn you want to use is the 'right' yarn for the project. Maybe it's too thick or thin; or it's a thick and thin that disguises the pattern stitch. Touch has a lot to do with how well we like a finished project. So before you invest all that time, effort and money, please swatch.

Now back to knitting this project!
